Don't Let Go...

“When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.” -Franklin D. Roosevelt

“Don’t let go...YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!”

That moment when you feel like you’ve come so far…too far, to give up but giving up looks so tempting …but then again, you know that you’re almost there and to give up would be…
a.     Embarrassing
b.    Just what everyone said I would do
c.     Defeating the reason why I started
d.    Breaking the promise I made to myself to finish something I started
e.     A waste of ALL the time and effort I put in
f.     UNNECESSARY AND RIDICULOUS!!!!
g.    …Forget this list!

…I’m not letting go…I’M ALMOST THERE!

We always have the option/choice/decision to

Writing this post reminds me of “The Art of Not Giving Up,” the many reasons we don’t or shouldn’t give up and knowing how/when to practice the art of not giving up.
Recap:

How is this post different???

“Don’t let go, you’re almost there” relates to knowing exactly where you are, where you want to go, and being on the right path to it…BUT because it’s taking so long to happen…you get discouraged.

I could tell you my own stories of wanting to let go because something is taking or took so long to be in my reality…but then…that would be telling you my WHOLE life story in one post…(can I get a witness!!!)
But I will say this…
It took those early in life moments of going after things I wanted but didn’t know I needed… to realize that I’m on the right path and if I had let go then, it would’ve made it much harder to keep pushing & believing in my dreams now!
“Don’t let go...YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!”

Let me say this: Almost could be tomorrow, a month, a year or 7 years from now…but when YOU are on the right path, every decision & action you make is building you stronger and stronger…to endure even longer.

So when you finally get there…YOU Will Know that YOU deserve to be there and will walk WORTHY…and NO ONE…NOT A ONE…will be able to tell you any different!

See/Imagine/Envision YOU(yourself) finishing with excellence---what YOU Started… whatever that looks like! & “Don’t let go...YOU’RE ALMOST THERE!”

Your dreams are as close as the actions you put to them.

Blow Through The Stop Sign…s!

You’re taught to stop at all stop signs, look around, and proceed when it’s clear…in driving. But…In life, when a “stop sign” comes, we don’t always proceed when it’s clear…instead we take it as a sign to STOP and not move forward.

“I don’t know what stopped or is stopping you but every dream you envisioned is on the other side of that lil stop sign.” –Success Winner Risk-Taker (yep, that’s my full name)

Remember that moment when you started something that you didn’t realize you would soon love but then something opposing/challenging/conflicting happened and you thought…
+Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be
+I didn’t like it in the beginning anyway…anyhow
+I didn’t want to do it from the start
+Maybe I learned all that I needed to learn and now it’s time to move on
+Well…at least I didn’t get too into it
+You know “so and so” told me not to do this…that’s why they didn’t do it
                        And the list goes on!
By the way, some of those were thoughts of mine these last 2 weeks…"life is a process…WE must commit!"

Personal Story (this is a recent story…so there will be gaps…I’ll let your imagination fill them!):
So recently, I was offered the opportunity to do something professionally that I said I would never do…and at a time when the things I do love just started to pick up/progress/step up/move forward in the direction of my liking (you still following? Yes, okay good). But because it was offered, I entertained the thought with a little bit of attitude (does this sound like “Questionable Closed Door” or what?!?---Note to self: Take My Own Advice…I think! Keep reading).

Please note, that this opportunity has different steps…just because it was offered doesn’t mean that you can climb the steps…you have to study and commit in order to climb the steps.

However, in studying, I became very interested and excited about this opportunity that I said I would never do, and realized the bigger picture as to why it was offered to me. Even though I realized why it was offered to me, I still semi-secretly did not want to do it…especially since there were tests attached to the studying!!!---I also, don’t like tests!

I passed the 1st set of tests…then I had to pass the last and final test/examination to fully accept the offered opportunity…I went in to take the exam…and I FAILED by 4 points!!!!!!! STOP SIGN…STOP SIGN!!!!!!

I wasn’t upset about failing, I actually was relieved with a smile on my face… as the lady who gave me my score seemed a bit upset for me… as I smirked a little. I went home and said, “I AM NOT TAKING THAT TEST AGAIN…THAT WAS SIGN!!!”

But in the midst of all the stop signs… I put up myself, I was reminded of that bigger picture…so I studied harder and smarter to retake the exam 2 days later with a much better attitude of “I’M PASSING THIS TEST”…and I PASSED…I PASSED…I WAS SOoo happy and grateful that I PASSED!---I really wanted it this time…I Blew right through the Stop Signs…even the ones I put up myself!
**Note about this story: It’s really interesting how things/opportunities are set up for us to receive…but not forced upon us. You/We have to be willing to receive…to receive!**

Sometimes “Stop Signs” appear in our life because:
+We… put them there
+Other people… put them there
+Stuff or lack of stuff… put them there
+Doubt, Mistakes, Lack of Confidence, Lack of Vision-BigPicture Vision…put them there
+Lack of Knowledge or too much Knowledge… put them there

Sometimes stop signs will come one after another but some are meant for you to proceed when clear or when your vision is clear…or simply blow through! You’ll know what to do when you recognize it’s a stop sign.

Just like on the road, stop signs will always appear in your, mine, and our life too…but just like on the road, you look around, and proceed when it’s clear…sometimes you’ll just have to make it clear with your confidence, boldness and spunk! A Stop Sign is but a Stop Sign, not a dead end…proceed when clear or better yet…BLOW THROUGH IT!!!

GYC Last Thought Commentary:
Take a trip down memory lane…remember all the other stop signs you went through (people said you shouldn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t make it, you’re not smart, tall, pretty, cool, etc. enough…and everything else)??? So why stop at this one? BLOW THROUGH THE STOP SIGN…S!

Only YOU Can STOP YOU!

No More Regrets

Have YOU ever heard the quote?

“If you worry about things you can’t change… you’re crazy, and if you worry about things you can change… you’re lazy!”-Unknown

That quote all by itself should write this entire post…or be the entire post…hmm

...But we all know that’s not gonna happen & plus it would defeat the whole purpose of you stopping by GYC-GirlYOUCrazy.com
                                            …and I thank you!

Now back to “crazy,” “lazy,” and/or both!

When you think about it, this quote has 2 parts…the past (crazy) and the present (lazy)…. How many times have we rehearsed/rewound, how we could have done something different… over, over and over again?

Sometimes we’ll say:
+I’m only thinking about it now… because if it happens again… then I’ll be prepared…

+Man, I wish I said _________ instead of _________ because now _______but if it happens again…

+The next time that happens…I’m going to do this, and say that…yep, that’s what I going to do.

+I should have trusted my gut/inner voice/conscience…

+I don’t regret it…I just could’ve done things differently.---By the way…what does that mean???

Any of these sound familiar??? If not, feel free to add your own!

We’ll play out this whole scenario of “shoulda, coulda, woulda” that has this undertone of REGRET… of stuff/things that we don’t have the opportunity to change, and stuff/things that we do have the opportunity to change, right now!

Whether you call “it” regret or something else…”it” is an area that needs some calling out mixed with some action of Letting GO and/or Moving FORWARD!

So what is the point of this post???

Make a list that you will never read? No.
---Never act on? No.

Call Out Regrets that you can’t and can change? YES!

Distinguish the difference of can and can’t, call it out…THEN LIVE IT!? YES!

So here it is, The list of “No More Regrets”…
I’m making mine, print this out and make yours!

GYC Girl YOU Crazy Official Commentary:
NO MORE REGRETS, WE CHANGE WHAT WE CAN AND WE LEARN & LET GO OF WHAT WE CAN’T!

Here comes Old Slew Foot

When negativity knocks…tell it to SHUT UP and Go away! Or close the blinds and lock the door! Your choice but I would probably do both and laugh in between…

So old “slew foot” comes to the door…

Wait…let me tell you how I use the term “slew foot”, since I know we all have a definition of what “slew foot” means and sometimes we add our own spin, in our own words…especially since this word is a hockey term, I believe, I’m sure you will correct me if I’m wrong or will you?

Definition of Slew Foot
I’ve heard “slew foot” used by people who do not play hockey, so my definition is as follows:
Unwanted/negative actions or words placed in your thoughts or done by people, which are meant to knock you down and keep you from your goal when you are confident and in pursuit…

Description of “slew foot”:
-Envious
-Jealous
-Distraction
-Hater
-Negative
-Busted and disgusted….
Shall I go on???...No? Okay, you get the picture!

And we’re back…

So old “slew foot” comes to the door…whether you open it or not…

“Negativity comes when it’s unwanted...which is always.”

GYC Commentary and Story
When it looks like everything is going good/great/fantastic/all of that, and something not so great happens… You think, “It was too good to be true,” “I knew it couldn’t last for long,” “I was too excited, too fast” and/or all of “slew foot’s” relatives and descriptions…

I remember being in a moment like that when I was younger but now it’s easier to fight off because I know the truth… but in that moment, there was a serious feeling of weakness, defeat, embarrassment, all of these emotions that scream “Fail! Failing! Failed!”

Slew Foot came when I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grow up (that’s just like old slew). It showed up in older/grown people, some successful, some not so successful and none were not doing what I wanted to be, nor did they know much about my desired industry…but that didn’t stop them!

It was in those moments of second, third, fourth guessing and discouragement that I remembered the encouragement from people that I actually respect and love. From then on…I choose to remember encouragement from those who owed me nothing whenever “slew foot’s” cousin discouragement came a knocking...and I put a smile back on my face!

Old Slew Foot will always try to come back in different shapes and forms, people and things…it tries to visit me often but I call it by name and stop it dead in its tracks…

We’re destined for greatness… so we don’t have time for that!

For every comment that tries to push you backward, have a comment/phrase/thought ready to push you forward, whether you say it out loud or in your head…be ready!

Thank those who encourage you, use that encouragement to push back on discouragement and knock “slew foot” on the ground & under your feet, where it belongs!

The Art of Not Giving Up

Why did you start? (Repeat) Why did you start? Are you going to finish? How will you finish? Why should you finish?

The Art of Not Giving Up is not a new topic yet it remains relevant and important to finishing, completing that “thing” you started.

I think about the several TV shows & movies both old and new with child characters starting something one day, forgetting it the next day and asking to start something new… today.

Now in these situations, the parents either roll their eyes and ask about the other things he/she started, tell them to finish that “thing” first…then we’ll think about this new “thing” or the parent will say “how much does it cost and what do I have to do… for you to do it?”

Raise your hand if you can relate… whether you have to think about it a long time or it was yesterday and/or you or your kid!

As a kid and as a new adult (you have your definition of adult, I have mine…), it’s funny how my thinking in this department has only slightly changed.
The kid me:
+Started “something” and finished because I had to…
+Started “something” and finished because I wanted to…
+Started “something” because the end result was a trip to Disney World…then quit when I realized the trip was way (wayyyyyy) down the line, and I would have to keep doing this “thing” till I was in my junior year of high school…

+Started “something” that I
--Love
--Have passion for
---Will keep doing until I see the end result…
-----But I hope I never see the end because I love it so much…the process of completing it feels like finishing everyday (if that makes sense…).-----

The (new) adult me:
+Feels the same way about the last “+” because it’s still present in my life…

+Finds it easier, not easy for me to Start “something” and commit to finishing because I can visualize the end; my own definition of end, which is “did I get/receive what I came for? If not, I’m not done.”

But what is The Art of Not Giving Up????????

The Art of Not Giving Up is pursuing:
+What you need
+What you love
+What you’re passionate about
+What you are willing to defend
++You know why you’re doing/attempting “it”
++You are excited about what will come from “it”

And when you started, you didn’t start with wanting to give up…so, why would you give up now?

GYC Commentary (last notes…if you didn’t read anything else…):
In college, I was taught business through the eyes of design, design is a never-ending process, even when you think you’re done the end result could evolve to something better.

When pursuing The Art of Not Giving Up, as in something you should be pursuing…you do NOT give up because you know/trust that the best is yet to come!

When you have good reasons not to give up…YOU CAN and WILL Speak boldly
“I am successful.” No matter what it looks like, “I am successful.” If no one else believes it, I DO, and if I don’t believe it, why should anyone else?

YOU ARE A FIGHTER…SO KEEP FIGHTING!
