I am my own definition.

If I compromise who I am, I will never know who I was yet to be.”-Mirror Conversation

I am my own definition, I live it daily.”-My Truth

If I allow your definition to take the place of my own, I will never see the vision that was only meant for me to see.”-YOU, Me, We Acknowledging Our OWN Unique Purpose

It seems like my latest posts have been about being the true self and recognizing that there is more to you than you actually know…

We all are setup to succeed because we were designed with a purpose, and if we are connected to it…and live it out day-by-day, minute-by-minute and step-by-step we are a success and possess a direction to go.

That sounds just about right…Right?

Well,
Coming into the launch where GYC is partnering with Endless Dreams Foundation, Inc. for its What Is Beauty? Campaign (oh yes!)… I can’t help but speak what has already been spoken to confirm and reaffirm that we all have our own definition. A definition with a specific place in this world where no one is designed to fill it and know it but the one the space/place was made for!

I am my own definition is a declaration that we don’t just speak but we live.

Sometimes we get caught up on so many others definition that we forget our own. Then think… we are a failure because the imitation we convinced ourselves was real…didn’t accomplish what we thought it would... like it did for the person it was designed for!

Personal GYC Story
One of the biggest places if not many times before that where our definition is tested, forgotten, realized, and/or given a temporary leave to explore is…COLLEGE!!!

I tell you… when I arrived in NYC for the 2nd time in (my) life, I just knew who I was, what I was going to do and how I was going to do it!!!

++New York is just one of those kind of cities that place you in an “I know who I am” attitude…can I get a witness…any takers???++

Okay…

But it was in my Senior Year when “a reality”…not mine but “a reality began to float my thoughts that I did not know what I was going to do…and only a little bit of how I was going to do it.

Everyone had their opinion of what I was to do next, and their “oh so right” reasons behind why their opinion was the right direction for me and the so-called key.
Then, this “promising” introduction and that “promising” introduction…that all lead to nowhere!

I finally had to reevaluate…or as I’ve called it before…put pride aside and look in the mirror. I was about to graduate and I was fighting everyone’s definition while neglecting my own.

I think the biggest reason why I reclaimed my definition was because everyone wanted to help but no one wanted to tell me the truth… that this after-graduation mission I was on…was not my own.

Know your truth and live it.

If there was one thing I learned, it was teach me to know and accept only my truth, and to remain in remembrance of my purpose and definition.

Honestly, the only times I came face to face with “Girl YOU Crazy” was and is while I’m living out my definition…NOT while others were cheering me on to live a life that really had no hope because it wasn’t my own.

And

Let me just tell you one thing…after all those other things I said…

If you are going to say, “Girl YOU Crazy” to ME…I had better be living courageously, neglecting fear and being free... IN MY OWN DEFINITION.

RISE ABOVE THE COMPROMISE.

Last Thoughts
+Girl YOU Crazyto not be courageous!

+Girl YOU Crazyto live someone else’s definition!

+Girl YOU Crazyto give air to anything not connected to your purpose!
GYC Side Note Rant: This does not mean that you can’t help, promote or be happy for another or that you are supposed to be all about yourself…it means, YOU know who you are and you don’t allow others to distract you from your purpose, which involves understanding the definition to give without there being something to receive, and that there are some things you get paid for and other things you volunteer for…don’t confuse the 2.

+Girl YOU Crazyto not be free!

+Girl YOU Crazyto walk around with a frown like you have no hope or promise in your purpose!

+Girl YOU Crazyto think that your dreams are but a fantasy or agree with anyone that says it is and not tell them the truth!

I am my own definition…I don’t need yours and I won’t be tempted by want.

Some more GYC Quotes for YOU!
“I like to see people succeed and be all of who they are meant to be…it makes my heart smile.”-GYCGirlYOUCrazy

“Having a relationship within means that you will never be dry or without a direction to go, after all, it all starts with a thought…think for yourself.”-GYCGirlYOUCrazy

What is for me is for me!

What is for me is for me, I might have to fight but I won’t have to compete…The fight is fixed because I was designed for this!”-YOUR Truth

Follow after your own and your prize will not be revoked.”-YOUR Present & Future (It seems like they talk a lot…)

When you hear “what is for me, is for me,” what do you think about???
A. A way to cope with rejection?
B. Preparing for (possible) disappointment?
C. I wish they would just shut up, and face the facts that they were rejected?
D. Something people say when they don’t know what to say in disappointing moments?
E. The pep talk before you go into an audition, job interview, business meeting, test…any type of pressured situation?
 OR
Girl YOU Crazy…None of that!!!--- “What is for me is for me”…is simply the truth. No disappointment or rejection involved…Hmph!

Now that I have your attention… Let’s talk about it!

As I gathered my thoughts together about this topic, I was reminded of the choices we have, the decisions we make…
and the WHY!
+Why did I make this decision?
+Why am I living out this decision?
+Can I change my “why” later?
+Did I ask “why” before I made the decision?
+Can I justify my “why”?

ALL OF THAT!!!

And in all of thatyou think aboutdid I make those decisions because I needed to or because I wanted to and I could…so I did.”

Hmmm…

You ever heard the phrase... "Get out of your own way!"???
Yes, No, Maybe…What?
It’s cool because I will be referencing other clichés that I may or may not word properly (I get close but I do better when I make up my own…yea)
Well…

Side Note: We are going on a journey in this post, much like a conversation with me that goes in many circles…Go get some snacks! But YOU will be happy when you get there…
And back to it!

When YOU, ME, WE start thinking about our why’s…”Get out of your own way!” makes you think…maybe you even get a little defensive but nevertheless… when you hear it, you wonder maybe “I am in my own way…”or “were my ‘whys’ justified…do they make sense???” (Hmm…oh, its just me huh?…)

I realized that YOU, ME, WE get in OUR own way, when YOU, Me, We forget -----> "What is for me is for me. "
      Such as:
+We start to look around and think about what we don't have…
+Looking around at what others have…thinking that if we had what they had then…
+Maybe I should take some of the paths they took…it seemed to work for them…

Not recognizing that what we DO have is more than enough to help lead us to the dreams that live within us.

GYC Commentary…but YOU, ME, WE Know that it is a Rant:
Everyday we have choices that will either move us forward, keep us where we are, or move us backwards. It is the decisions that have justifiable whys’ that “keep us looking at our own paper”…and believing “if not this one, the next.” All the cliché phrases lead to knowing that what is meant for you to have… you will have if you realize that it is meant for you to have.

Some of the reasons why people stop going after their dreams is because they’re not sure if they have a right to it…right now. But you will never know what you have a right to… if you don’t put some seeds in the ground and water them…

Last thoughts on “What is for me is for me” (and I’m done with my journey):
I’ve realized that I can make my own mistakes, walk down the wrong path, include the wrong people, and say the wrong things…but my experience is my own experience that has built me up to be the person I am today, and walk towards the dreams and goals I’m designed to accomplish. What is for me is for me and I don’t have to compete.

The route I take may not be popular and not include everyone but it is my own story and I will tell it whatever way I please. Yes, yea, sure, absolutely, I am tempted to quit, stop, look around, compare but when it is all over, I want what belongs to me and me alone. Therefore, I fight my own fight to get my own prize. Sure I have helped and will continue to help others along the way but that is also a part of my fight…what is a part of yours?

“What is for me is for me and I don’t have to compete.”

Here are some GYC Quotes for Thought and Deposit…that’s right take it all the way to the bank baby! HA!:

“If you have seeds with enough sense to plant them and patience to water them…you are the richest person!”

“Remain in remembrance of your own dream and purpose.”

“Don't get caught in a plan that is not connected to YOURS for they will be the only one that moves forward.

“Don’t take the Elevator…” Part 3: Boldness is Beautiful

Check out the ENTIRE SERIES...IN A BOOK!!

My confidence is bold... Strength told me so.”-The Inner Fighter in YOU

“I don’t ask if I’m qualified…I Know I am.”-Boldness

You know that moment when you’re standing on strength and looking confident but you still need that extra push/kick in the pants/”you can do it”/ ”you got this” talk???

But if I have strength and I’m confident…what else would I need? ‘…Girl YOU Crazy.’”
---I know that’s what you were thinking…probably… so I figured I would just say it (keep reading)!

When you take the steps, strength and confidence are part of the process… they build in you the muscle to keep going…to keep moving to the next step, to know that you are worthy of moving forward and achieving your dreams.

Unlike the elevator telling you that “you’ll get strength and confidence once you get there…and that whole 'kick in the pants' thing…well I’ll just throw stuff at you and see what you can catch…”---------- Yea, um, I don’t think so! We take the steps!!!

“Don’t take the Elevator…” Side Note:  As fast as it’s given… is as fast as it can be taken away. Many will not help you keep… what they don’t think you deserve…And if you’re unsure about what you deserve………well, that’s why YOU, ME, WE are on the steps!

BUT…when you get there and it’s time to actually go through the door…your open door that strength and confidence guided/lead/helped you to…

Well, now it’s time for some action…called BOLDNESS!

…Do YOU know it???

Boldness is that extra kick, push, you can do it, you got this, go for it, the time is now, lets go…that you pulled from confidence & strength, and now have the courage to go and do it!

Oh how Boldness is so Beautiful!

When YOU, ME, WE take the steps, we know who we are, which builds strength that looks like confidence…developed into boldness…which evens the playing field.

What does that mean???...If YOU needed a kick in the pants (to move forward)…well here it is!

GYC Personal Story that might appear as a Rant…:
Okay so I created, developed and wrote this business proposal for this awesome brand to have this awesome product…Awesome was just all over it, okay? Okay!!!

Pay attention so you can see where and how boldness evens the playing field as in “You are no better than me, I’m no better than you, you’re rich, I’m rich, etc.”---Boldness lets/allows you to push pass circumstances/details of a situation that favor with everyone but you and allows you to carry yourself like you have the same favorable details going on... because you know who you are and what you deserve…

So here I am with this proposal that I have written created, developed, designed… everything.

Now, confidence and strength told me I could write the proposal because
+ I did attend school for business
+ I do have a business degree
+ I’ve wanted to fix and help businesses since I was a teen
+ I’m a problem solver with ideas that fix problems and are profitable
+ I have fought for everything that I have…so trying to tell me what I can’t have or do goes in one ear and right out the other.
**Each “+” above talks about the steps that I took and leaned on when I doubted my ability to do what I love, which continues to grow a fight in me that can’t/won’t be stopped. **

I sent the proposal. They responded…one of the responses called for a meeting that should have intimated me like CRAZY and made me say “nevermind…just kidding!!!” “Oh My Goodness I need years of experience, time, and gray hair(s)”…any “thing” that would have made me seem more _______I don’t know, just something!!!

When Boldness wants to bust through…doubt likes to start flapping with craziness!

However,

Boldness did not return void…blew my mind that they wanted to meet…made me laugh or should I say giggle…then I reminded myself of “who I am” and went to the meeting and let BOLDNESS have at it!

I took the steps/stairs before people even knew I was on them…and I’m still there climbing and reaching, pushing pass the naysayers waiting on the “elevator”!

I do have those moments of O-M-G!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING LAUREN!!!

But …
When YOU start trying to back down from being bold as opportunity knocks or it's time to walk through your open door

Look in the mirror & ask yourself:
+ Do YOU not have what it takes?
+ Didn’t YOU study/prepare for this?
+ Is this an exciting opportunity…one that YOU have been waiting on???
+ Will YOU let doubt stop you? Are YOU really going to punk out ________ (insert name here)?
+ WHO IS GOING TO STOP YOU????? Name he/she/it/them…please tell me WHO?

Well, now you know a little of my pep talk…you can laugh if you want to but my boldness will shine through!!!

More GYC Bold Quotes:
Let Boldness even the playing field.”

“You can look confident but YOU better talk boldness.”

“I don’t know about YOU…but My Boldness is Beautiful.”

First YOU get Strength, then YOU get Confidence then YOU walk in Boldness…and then…well, check back next Monday for the conclusion!!! “Don’t Take the Elevator…”

Introduction: Don’t Take the Elevator…be a step taker

Check out the ENTIRE SERIES...IN A BOOK!!! Welcome to the “Don’t Take the Elevator” Series

For Dreamers of their own dreams
& Tempted by the elevator

Introduction: Don’t Take the Elevator…be a step taker

“Take the steps, it’s good for the body & soul.”-A determined mind ready to fight setbacks

“Just like the elevator can take you up with one button, it can take you down with one button…be a step-taker.”-The truth

“When you take the steps, a set-back is only a step back but it’s up to you to move forward.”-The Steps

Sometimes we think that people are turned into celebrities and/or success stories over night, given our dreams without a fight, living the life we want with no sacrifice, given fame and influence with rehearsed/practiced/fake passion.

Well at least that’s what we sometimes think…
(It’s cool; you’re not by yourself…)
Then we’re tempted to “Think” we want the same things…

Sometimes we talk about people being one-hit-wonders, not knowing that they’re built to last…while those we love, adore and thought would be here forever are actually the one-hit-wonders (crazy huh!).

Whether you have intentions of being a one-hit-wonder (probably not), there is a process/ steps to take that make you built to last and keep you dreaming new dreams, and walking worthy & deserving!

But why write about this…and in a series???---"Girl YOUCrazy"
This is not a new subject/topic but it gets brushed off so much, especially when we get frustrated, a lil negative, “why me? Why me?” about our dreams and our dreams not being in our reality, and looking at others thinking that “I want this more than they do, how did they get there? And why am I not there?” Also, I’ll admit, I’ve had “not keeping my eyes on my own paper” thoughts and to push through is a process that I’m going to talk about…so let’s talk!

What YOU might be thinking---“Yea I hear what you’re saying and all but_______”
GYC Response---- “Well…Checkback every week on Monday to read all of what I’m saying (there will be something for everyone)” & to make it easier, you can subscribe on the right!

"The elevator to success is out of order. You'll have to use the stairs...one step at a time." -Joe Girard

The Art of Not Giving Up

Why did you start? (Repeat) Why did you start? Are you going to finish? How will you finish? Why should you finish?

The Art of Not Giving Up is not a new topic yet it remains relevant and important to finishing, completing that “thing” you started.

I think about the several TV shows & movies both old and new with child characters starting something one day, forgetting it the next day and asking to start something new… today.

Now in these situations, the parents either roll their eyes and ask about the other things he/she started, tell them to finish that “thing” first…then we’ll think about this new “thing” or the parent will say “how much does it cost and what do I have to do… for you to do it?”

Raise your hand if you can relate… whether you have to think about it a long time or it was yesterday and/or you or your kid!

As a kid and as a new adult (you have your definition of adult, I have mine…), it’s funny how my thinking in this department has only slightly changed.
The kid me:
+Started “something” and finished because I had to…
+Started “something” and finished because I wanted to…
+Started “something” because the end result was a trip to Disney World…then quit when I realized the trip was way (wayyyyyy) down the line, and I would have to keep doing this “thing” till I was in my junior year of high school…

+Started “something” that I
--Love
--Have passion for
---Will keep doing until I see the end result…
-----But I hope I never see the end because I love it so much…the process of completing it feels like finishing everyday (if that makes sense…).-----

The (new) adult me:
+Feels the same way about the last “+” because it’s still present in my life…

+Finds it easier, not easy for me to Start “something” and commit to finishing because I can visualize the end; my own definition of end, which is “did I get/receive what I came for? If not, I’m not done.”

But what is The Art of Not Giving Up????????

The Art of Not Giving Up is pursuing:
+What you need
+What you love
+What you’re passionate about
+What you are willing to defend
++You know why you’re doing/attempting “it”
++You are excited about what will come from “it”

And when you started, you didn’t start with wanting to give up…so, why would you give up now?

GYC Commentary (last notes…if you didn’t read anything else…):
In college, I was taught business through the eyes of design, design is a never-ending process, even when you think you’re done the end result could evolve to something better.

When pursuing The Art of Not Giving Up, as in something you should be pursuing…you do NOT give up because you know/trust that the best is yet to come!

When you have good reasons not to give up…YOU CAN and WILL Speak boldly
“I am successful.” No matter what it looks like, “I am successful.” If no one else believes it, I DO, and if I don’t believe it, why should anyone else?

YOU ARE A FIGHTER…SO KEEP FIGHTING!
