The Art of Not Giving Up

Why did you start? (Repeat) Why did you start? Are you going to finish? How will you finish? Why should you finish?

The Art of Not Giving Up is not a new topic yet it remains relevant and important to finishing, completing that “thing” you started.

I think about the several TV shows & movies both old and new with child characters starting something one day, forgetting it the next day and asking to start something new… today.

Now in these situations, the parents either roll their eyes and ask about the other things he/she started, tell them to finish that “thing” first…then we’ll think about this new “thing” or the parent will say “how much does it cost and what do I have to do… for you to do it?”

Raise your hand if you can relate… whether you have to think about it a long time or it was yesterday and/or you or your kid!

As a kid and as a new adult (you have your definition of adult, I have mine…), it’s funny how my thinking in this department has only slightly changed.
The kid me:
+Started “something” and finished because I had to…
+Started “something” and finished because I wanted to…
+Started “something” because the end result was a trip to Disney World…then quit when I realized the trip was way (wayyyyyy) down the line, and I would have to keep doing this “thing” till I was in my junior year of high school…

+Started “something” that I
--Love
--Have passion for
---Will keep doing until I see the end result…
-----But I hope I never see the end because I love it so much…the process of completing it feels like finishing everyday (if that makes sense…).-----

The (new) adult me:
+Feels the same way about the last “+” because it’s still present in my life…

+Finds it easier, not easy for me to Start “something” and commit to finishing because I can visualize the end; my own definition of end, which is “did I get/receive what I came for? If not, I’m not done.”

But what is The Art of Not Giving Up????????

The Art of Not Giving Up is pursuing:
+What you need
+What you love
+What you’re passionate about
+What you are willing to defend
++You know why you’re doing/attempting “it”
++You are excited about what will come from “it”

And when you started, you didn’t start with wanting to give up…so, why would you give up now?

GYC Commentary (last notes…if you didn’t read anything else…):
In college, I was taught business through the eyes of design, design is a never-ending process, even when you think you’re done the end result could evolve to something better.

When pursuing The Art of Not Giving Up, as in something you should be pursuing…you do NOT give up because you know/trust that the best is yet to come!

When you have good reasons not to give up…YOU CAN and WILL Speak boldly
“I am successful.” No matter what it looks like, “I am successful.” If no one else believes it, I DO, and if I don’t believe it, why should anyone else?

YOU ARE A FIGHTER…SO KEEP FIGHTING!

I may not know where you're going... (SheNOWChat Wrap-up)

“I may not know where you're going...but I know it’s worth the fight!”

Last Monday's #SheNOWChat was all about encouraging & inspiring the younger female generation: daughter, niece, sister, friend, neighbor...never met her, all of the above!

I had questions and inspirational women had answersAdvice Needed? YES.

“The process of success is meant to strengthen us, and be re-told to encourage those after us.” –The Truth about the Process

#AdviceNeeded- GYC Girl YOU Crazy #SheNOWChat Questions
Q1: What do you wish you knew before starting College/secondary School and/or your 1st job?
Q2: What did you think you lacked in achieving your dream/goal but realized you had all along?

Q3: What do you know for sure about the path you took, to be where
you are today (goal-setting)?
Q4: If someone attached a quote to your name…what would you want it to be?

Q5: What advice would you give a young woman who is feeling pressure to take a different path than the one she wants to follow?
Q6: Besides writing them down, what advice do you have about turning ideas into reality?

Q7: When looking back, what phrases/quotes guided you through pressuring moments?

Sitting at my computer, tweeting the questions, and trying my best to interact with the answers (which goes sooooo fast if I might add)… I was in awe… because the very thing that we wanted, we got it!
+ Real Answers
+The truth about the process of this precious thing we call life and its success & experience (I hate the word failure, so I call it experience, fyi)
+Advice that we can live out and not think “well that is just for them or there’s no way I can do that…”
+And the past told as lessons learned with hope for the future & a lot of “SPUNK” to live out!

In developing GYC Girl YOU Crazy, I realized there is one thing about inspiring a dream and living out what you aspire to be… that it doesn’t matter what
 -Race
-Nationality
-Rich
-Poor
-1 parent
-2 parents
-Whatever (etc.)
When it comes to achieving the dreams birthed from our imagination (where we visualized we could do ________(insert your dream here) in the 1st place)…not those dreams given to us by default because of our last name or the neighborhood we came from…We all need a listening ear of support & a real but gentle word of advice from true experience. After all, haven’t we all heard "Girl YOU Crazy" in some manner or another!

Don’t dismiss someone’s dream because you think she is privileged and doesn’t need your help. The young girl you see everyday could be dreaming of her purpose this very moment but thinking that she’s not qualified to achieve it for whatever reason! You would be surprised to know how many 9+ year olds (that’s right 9) know what they want to be and no one to listen or say go for it!

As we get older & life happens, we can forget… then want to do this thing, that thing and nothing but I'll say from experience/memory that the dreams I still pursue today, I met in elementary… my teacher encouraged my pre-mature dreams w/ a mature response of belief in my dreams.

If there is one thing that I noticed from the chat...is that there are MANY, MANY, MANY women who may not know where you are going but they know where you are and that even now (at whatever age) it’s still worth the fight!

So put your boxing gloves on (or whatever fighting gear you can relate to) and “Tell the naysayers and the Negative Ninnies to go fly a kite!”- Vanessa @GirlfriendGroup

Whether you simply watched the chat…answered the questions or did a little of both…I know we were all recharged in some way. “Take Action. Don’t just think and plan and think and plan.”-@Kalinder

Thank you all for joining the #SheNOWChat (SheNOW.org) with me…I truly appreciate the support, and there is more to come from GYC Girl YOU Crazy…where Crazy is Defeated with Courage (that’s right, defeated)!

When given the chance to give someone/anyone’s dream hope…take it, listen & encourage it!

Defeating Crazy with Courageous: Let an Idea Marinate

Past Tweet from @GYCGirlYOUCrazy: “Sometimes there are #Crazy ideas but don’t dismiss them, you might be the person to help it out! #FindTheRoot #DefeatCrazyWithCourageous”

“An idea is a precious gift given through your mind & imagination… AND sometimes the logical side of you just can’t comprehend…Get Over It and RECEIVE It!”-YOUR Ideas Defending Itself

What good is a gift if you never open it? What good is potential if you never use it?
& What good is an idea if you never develop it and give it a chance to grow?

Does this sound a little familiar???So YOU Dreamed it…” Well, keep reading!

How many times have we had ideas that we put aside because:
a. It might take too much time
b. It might not work out
c. It might not this, that…
Or
d. This is CrAzy, I just canNOT see myself doing that???
(You may take a moment to think…
And we’re back!) Sometimes we let/allow/okay the “Girl YOU Crazy” face dictate/decide the dreams and desires we choose to go after, instead of being bold and courageousdefeating crazy.

Hmmm…Our ideas ain’t (that’s right, I said “ain’t”) crazy…they just need a little questioning and courage!

Open up your ideas with questions & research! SO Ladies, Let’s play GYC’s version of “20 Questions”...

16 Questions with your idea & the prize is: Defeating Crazy with Courage (Taking the Next Step w/ YOUR idea)! *Quick Note* “It” means your idea(s) because only you know or can figure out its identity… others may help to get/lead/guide you to the “questionable open door” but hey, you have the key! Also, these questions are in no particular order…do you & be honest, this is your business, not anyone else’s:

+Who can it influence?

+What can it change? What will it change?

+What will it bring?

+If it was to happen now, how would your life change?

+What came before it? What can or will come after it?

+Who needs it? Why do _______ (fill-in-the-bank) need it?

+Is this something you will be proud of? Would you tell the world about it or want/let someone else to take the credit?

+Are you passionate about it right now? Or do you think you might be passionate about it later?

+Do you wish your idea(s) were in your reality?

+Is it something that you would want to pass on, leave a legacy that lives on?

+Does it involve you using your voice, and taking a position that others may or may not agree with?

+Do you have peace when you’re thinking about it or are you anxious?

+Can you work at it while still living life? “Work at life (the life you want), while still living life.”

+Will the world understand it like you do? Do you care if everyone else understands it? Does it depend on everyone understanding it?

+Will you defend it …when everyone else says, “let it go”?

+How or Why do you think you were given this idea?

If you can answer just ONE of these questions honestly and with passion, I know that you and your idea have the boldness to be courageous and develop this “thing” till it’s in your reality or let it go knowing that you have greater ideas to pursue (you decide).

Dismiss no idea but question it with courage and boldnessit could be an important part of your purpose, dream, goal, & desire…you never know what will happen!

Don’t let your idea go at the hand of the “Girl YOU Crazy” face…your idea is worth so much more than that!!! Okay? Okay.
