HAPPY NEW YEAR/ HAPPY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH/ HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY Y’ALL!!! I wanted to end the year with this post, but I let time get away from me…I admit! However, we’ll start the year (new month, sorta) off with some food for thought. While it may not bring you luck like collard greens, black-eyed peas and a rabbit's foot…Mmmmhmmm HA! 

I hope it engages YOUR PERSPECTIVE.

 

I want this post to seem sensitive…

because it is…

but also self-reflective…

because it is…

but also, to help strengthen our level of compassion…

because we all need more.

Tell Me what they taught you…I wanna know!

Girl, first of all… WHO ARE ‘THEY’? what are WE talking about?

Is this a group, parent(s), 1^st grade teacher, friends…WHO?

They are the ones that raised you, grew you, expanded you and/or made a turning point in your life …so whoever/whomever, they are…

What did they teach YOU?

 I won’t get into the specifics of the “they” in my life but some specific things ‘they’ taught me…I want YOU to know for yourself and teach them to someone else.

Remember how I told y’all that I’m privy to some ‘interesting’ conversations…well they are still going on and it has me wondering…

what have some people been taught? Like… have you directly been taught this, or did someone’s actions (or lack thereof) teach you this…why is this a part of your conversation, thought process, values, etc.?

Maybe I should change this to ‘everything a daughter should know’ ???? Hmm?

IDK but I want this information out in the world on one page…

 

IT HAS TO BE SAID.

                                  

1. YOU don’t beg anyone to care about YOU. Either they do or they don’t… just let them know what is important to you.

2. You’re no one’s savior even if you've helped them. Making yourself feel obligated to someone when you’re not a licensed professional to deal with their situation(s) is dangerous. Pray and keep it moving.

3. You’re loved and filled with Purpose…nothing will EVER change that.

 

4. No one’s beauty compares to yours…I don’t care what anybody says…GIRL, NO ONE IS YOU.  

        I NEED YOU to understand that you’re beautiful without looking outside the mirror. My mother taught me that I am who I am without any other opinion, it is instilled in me from childhood. I met someone that tried to mar my thoughts of self…I no longer know that person. Trying to make me feel the same size as you will never keep me in the same room with you…no, thank you. Go. Vai.

 

But seriously…once YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT YOURSELF…STOP looking for outside confirmation of YOUR BEAUTY.

5. Your choices are yours. Don’t be (a)shamed for putting you first. There will always be someone ready to blame YOU…so own what you do, the good and bad. And keep it pushing.

 

6. Protecting your peace reflects valuing your peace. I’ll be the first to admit that there are parts of the day when I love drama and being a drama queen… BAYBAY but for comedy reasons! The drama I bring tends to be for hilarious or educational purposes. I am not about to start a conversation with someone about something that I know is going to stress me out and not provide any solutions. No, thank you. This does not mean that I don’t let people vent to me, I do, I listen. BUT you listen to my thoughts after, PHAHAHa!

7. The appearance of power will never replace actual power. Take a deep breath and think on that.

 8.  If you change your mind, it’s changed. Learning not to say sorry WILL be a HARD lesson, and I mean hard but necessary. Especially because we say sorry and don’t mean it, way too often.

 

9.   Ignoring warning signs can cost you your life. If they had pre-stalker behavior in the beginning…it will only increase. For example, in the beginning you decided this wasn’t for you, blocked their number because it was done…but soon after, they purchased a new number to get in contact with you. Seems harmless to some but the reality is that this individual is not going to keep getting a new number but find other ways to track you down. The same goes with people you first meet, especially at your job or similar environments. If you think it's something 'off' about them...KEEP YOUR DISTANCE, don't get up close trying to figure them out...TRUST ME, LEAVE THEM ALONE---I've been taught this lesson more than once. Cheers to me actually learning it!

10.  Don’t waste too many people’s time…one or two but don’t make it a habit! This could be dangerous like #9… Some people really think you’re ‘the one’ and wasting their time will hurt.

11.   Everybody does not need to know where and how you live. Stop inviting everybody over and giving out the access code. Protect your space and you’ll know the people and things/habits drilling a hole in your “boat.”

 

 

12. Set up boundaries…they will literally save your life one day whether it is mental or physical.

13.  Lastly, YOU ARE God’s gift. To quote Aaliyah, ‘I’m not just anybody.’ People should know that it is a privilege to know YOU because… well, it is! --More on this later!!

It seems like my latest posts have been about being the true self and recognizing that there is more to you than you actually know…

We all are setup to succeed because we were designed with a purpose, and if we are connected to it…and live it out day-by-day, minute-by-minute and step-by-step we are a success and possess a direction to go.

That sounds just about right…Right?

Well,

Coming into the launch where GYC is partnering with Endless Dreams Foundation, Inc. for its What Is Beauty? Campaign (oh yes!)… I can’t help but speak what has already been spoken to confirm and reaffirm that we all have our own definition. A definition with a specific place in this world where no one is designed to fill it and know it but the one the space/place was made for!

I am my own definition is a declaration that we don’t just speak but we live.

Sometimes we get caught up on so many others definition that we forget our own. Then think… we are a failure because the imitation we convinced ourselves was real…didn’t accomplish what we thought it would... like it did for the person it was designed for!

Personal GYC Story

One of the biggest places if not many times before that where our definition is tested, forgotten, realized, and/or given a temporary leave to explore is…COLLEGE!!!

I tell you… when I arrived in NYC for the 2nd time in (my) life, I just knew who I was, what I was going to do and how I was going to do it!!!

++New York is just one of those kind of cities that place you in an “I know who I am” attitude…can I get a witness…any takers???++

Okay…

But it was in my Senior Year when “a reality”…not mine but “a reality” began to float my thoughts that I did not know what I was going to do…and only a little bit of how I was going to do it.

Everyone had their opinion of what I was to do next, and their “oh so right” reasons behind why their opinion was the right direction for me and the so-called key.

Then, this “promising” introduction and that “promising” introduction…that all lead to nowhere!

I finally had to reevaluate…or as I’ve called it before…put pride aside and look in the mirror. I was about to graduate and I was fighting everyone’s definition while neglecting my own.

I think the biggest reason why I reclaimed my definition was because everyone wanted to help but no one wanted to tell me the truth… that this after-graduation mission I was on…was not my own.

Know your truth and live it.

If there was one thing I learned, it was teach me to know and accept only my truth, and to remain in remembrance of my purpose and definition.

Honestly, the only times I came face to face with “Girl YOU Crazy” was and is while I’m living out my definition…NOT while others were cheering me on to live a life that really had no hope because it wasn’t my own.

And

Let me just tell you one thing…after all those other things I said…

If you are going to say, “Girl YOU Crazy” to ME…I had better be living courageously, neglecting fear and being free... IN MY OWN DEFINITION.

RISE ABOVE THE COMPROMISE.

GYC Side Note Rant: This does not mean that you can’t help, promote or be happy for another or that you are supposed to be all about yourself…it means, YOU know who you are and you don’t allow others to distract you from your purpose, which involves understanding the definition to give without there being something to receive, and that there are some things you get paid for and other things you volunteer for…don’t confuse the 2.

I’m back writing… and I hope you all enjoyed the vlog/webisode/episodes/whatever you want to call it preferably “GYCGirl…Speaks!” but the choice is yours!

But...like I was saying, I’m back writing and I’ve been working on a few things to expand my work outside of GYC, and in that…

I felt the need to basically RANT… RANT THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH for the purpose of inspiring you…

However, I have a feeling that many think I rant every week…maybe I need a Webster’s Dictionary definition of the word “rant” or you know what, I do happen to Do things differently…so, maybe I’ll just make up my own so that I am basically always RIGHT! Hmph!

*It’s cool…people think we’re Crazy anyway*

Therefore, the definition of a GYC-GirlYOUCrazy.com or GirlYOUCrazy.com (yes indeed, we have expanded…Mmmhmm) Rant is:

+Purposefully saying what I want, in an order that is all over the place… because in a moment of wanting someone to understand something you’re passionate about, you find this unexplainable excitement that surpasses all grammar rules…and things just happen the way they want to! Also, you feel as though someone gave you a wake up call…even if it is just for yourself!

++All rants may not make sense in the beginning, it’s cool…either it’s for you, not for you, or not right now.

++Takes the time to let whatever is bottled up in you…OUT!

+Basically, GYC Rants are “A moment of passionate release.”

Now that we have cleared that up…

 Please be clear…that I am most definitely as WE ALL ARE, Will and Should be…

Positioned to succeed.

Think on that.

Or in other words…

Create continuous aha moments!

Sometimes people create aha moments that are really not aha moments and end up being let me hide after I just did “that” moment because what they created was not something connected to them…

 Rather something they wish was connected to them (for whatever reason).

But when I…GYCGirlYOUCrazy talks about creating your aha moment…I’m talking about creating a moment that is actually attached to YOU, birthed from the heart…visualized through the imagination (Yep all of that from Still I Remain.), something you will not hide from but embrace/stand tall/be proud because you uncovered more if who you are.

“Yea…I hear what you’re saying but how do I create that aha moment”:

Words mean nothing without action and people are always trying to reinvent themselves …etc. and the list goes on!!!

No one (named Lauren Alicia/GYCGirlYOUCrazy) is talking about reinventing yourself…I’m talking about getting to know yourself and make way for letting in and out all of you.

Personally/Professionally, I can look at a business’ foundation or the talents of an individual and show points of increase and expansion…but since I do not know you and to meet me is not impossible…just not necessary to this precious moment we are about to create or currently creating…

However,

I can say this about the YOU I have yet to meet…if you want to know how to expand yourself by always having something new that excites you and is actually connected to YOU…KNOW YOUR FOUNDATION…not what you think is your foundation…but what is really there, scars, traumas, victories, precious life moments…nightmares and all!

*I apologize for the excessive use of “moment”*

How can YOU position yourself to succeed if you don’t know what you are about to receive?

A few questions for YOU to explore:

+What is your talent(s) or gift(s)? How did you discover your talent(s) or gift(s)? And what are you doing with them right NOW?

+Do you know the person you’ve become? Are you excited about where you’re going?

+Do you know your worth? Have you accepted anything below your worth?

+Have you decided to leave a legacy worth mentioning?

+Do the people you call friends actually support you?

GYC Personal Reflection:

During “GYCGirl…Speaks!” I talked about My Set of Training Wheels (if you don’t know…click here) and how every time I try something new, there is a new set there to support me as I step /walk into this new endeavor/venture/really just opening myself up to knowing more about myself, and living it (you can call it what you want…but I know what it is!)!!!

And

In this, I know it’s okay that I’m new, which means I need to ask questions, be cautious yet excited, and at the same time recognize in strength, confidence and boldness…

THAT I AM equipped no matter the need for support in beginning stages…I am equipped to pursue because those who train are.  

But if I can really reflect…

The moments and struggle of starting something new, discovering/exploring new things, and realizing the journey has beautiful stops…

I continuously create aha moments in my life that position me to succeed through not being afraid but proceeding with caution (there is a difference) and opening myself up to getting to know the “me” I was created to be.

It’s that visual we all live of standing on a line between yes and no…knowing that we are set up to win but it is still our decision to make that move.

And when we do,

YOU, ME, WE will continuously make them and keep moving forward.

If I may…and I will! This is for you!!!

…YOU will never be without a direction to go.
