How to Walk Worthy

“Honesty of self will always look good on you.”-Your Mirror

“Worthy is an attitude formed within, stemmed from truth and carried out.”-The definition of worthy

I think one of my most used phrases of GYC is definitely  “walk worthy”…

Whether you are the person saying,

“Yes Girl,”
“Here we go again…”

Or “what is she talking about???”

You’ve seen it, and agreed or disagreed with it!

It’s cool… either way that’s why I’m writing this post…

One night, last week, I was attempting to go to sleep…pjs on, lights out, computer off…but my thoughts kept going!!

I’m thinking what is left to say in this day…and I soon realized… what was left to say was a reminder for tomorrow and all the other days to follow:

Walk worthy where I’m called, no matter how I’m feeling or decisions I’m facing.

And then,

The “How to” instructions started pouring in…and I just have to share them with YOU!!!

Side Note: The content of this post was written in the dark, on my phone, and in a text message draft. “When the inner self is talking…let it talk and you better listen!”

So, lets get into it!!!

How to Walk Worthy

1.   Know who you are.
I know it’s simply stated (often) but many times the truth of it is found in what do you answer to? There are times when a situation will happen and YOU, ME, WE may respond like humans, which may be out of character but nevertheless…it happens, and people may try to trash/take/mar/diminish/strip you of WHO YOU say YOU ARE.  But when the drama cools down, everyone goes their separate ways, and you’re left with your own thoughts… do you know who you are outside of people’s commentary.

GYC Side Note: Over the years, I’ve noticed that people will say certain things to me because they know it takes a lot for outside comments to bother me…and I will simply carry on. BUT as I started to grow in WHO I am and realize different depths of my worth…the things people said still didn’t bother me but the fact that people thought they could say these things to me…DID, it demonstrated what I allowed/tolerated, which didn’t affirm/agree/uplift my worth and who I know I am. If I continue to allow them to be present in my life or present as if nothing happened…well, YOU tell me!

Because I know who I am, I am going to walk worthy.

2.   Know what you stand for.
When we know who we are…what we stand for follows.

3.   Know what you deserve.
When we know who we are, what we stand for…what we deserve  shall not be compromised, even when LIFE happens.

4.   Admit to yourself when you are weak.
When life happens and/or you feel like you lack in abilities or courage, etc. admit it to yourself, be honest, allow for error, forgive yourself…just because we know WHO we are doesn’t make us perfect but it will continue to qualify us as worthy.

5.   Welcome strength.
After you admit when you’re weak…welcome strength because it comes from within…and will always be available.

We are worthy of strength when we’re weak. Keep walking…life isn’t over!

6.   Encourage yourself.
Everyday, we live an inspirational story. What’s your story?

7.   Remind yourself daily, hourly, in times of focus and un-focus that WE, YOU are designed with great purpose and have been enabled to fulfill it.

8.  Respect yourself, your journey and the journey of others...we are all in the process of something.

9.   Take joy like medicine.

10.                Remember the fact that you are designed with purpose means your life has promise...allow it to be fulfilled.

And lastly,

11.                Keep your head up, throw your shoulders back and believe that you're worthy, humbly with confidence.

Defeating Crazy with Courageous,
Lauren Alicia… Miss GYCGirl…Walking Worthy!!!

P.S. All the crazy in the world couldn’t stop the courage that lives within...so demonstrate it!

Live YOUR Worth.

What Is Beauty? Campaign Wrap-Up: We are a Resource!

“Beauty is a perspective that is reflected in everything we see.”-Honest Perspective

“The way we decide to see the world is the same way we will receive the world.”-Truth

“Sometimes beauty is blurred and marred by our perspective but what is beautiful to me is no matter how damaged its definition becomes, we will always continue to search for its truth and realness.”-GYC Thoughts on Beauty

May 1, 2013 Endless Dreams Foundation, Inc and GYC Girl YOU Crazy launched the What Is Beauty? Campaign (online), and it will officially be over this Thursday, August 1, 2013.

I hope you all have enjoyed participating and following the Campaign!!!!

Personally, the Campaign has been an amazing journey of learning and understanding beauty deeper… through the eyes of other’s and myself. It became an experience of recognizing the beauty in overcoming and realizing your own definition of beauty we live!

Yep, ALL OF THAT!!

Honestly…
How often are YOU asked to define a word that is used multiples times a day for various reasons that sometimes can only make sense to the person using it?????

So when asked in public…
"What is YOUR Definition of Beauty?????"

What would be your unfiltered, uncensored response and are you considering those listening to what you have to say???
…

Now go ahead, fill-in-the-blank:
Beauty is…

GYC Side Note: The thing about definitions… if you ever study and/or conduct consumer research is…whatever definition people give is the definition people believe, and their response is packed with powerful information about themselves that is to be considered their truth even if you know the information to be a lie. Everyday we tell something about ourselves in the definition we speak and live…what would YOU have your definition to say about you? …Something to think on!

In helping to shape and structure the Campaign with EDF, I thought of this quote that could bring out this power message of beauty and our understanding/perspective/feelings/thoughts…

'"I am the definition of beauty' appreciate mine (my definition) as I appreciate yours."

This quote identifies/recognizes/acknowledges the fact that we all are beautiful no matter how we define the word beauty, and how everyone’s definition shall be respected and appreciated.

The bigger picture of its message is...it’s NOT what we write down but what we live…it Is Our Truth!

Throughout the Campaign, we gathered multiple quotes and quotes with images relating to beauty directly, indirectly or simply poetic to exploit and strengthen various thoughts of beauty and where we find its presence.

But before I fully dive into the rest of this…it is important to know that the Campaign was set-up to promote high self-esteem, confidence and strength, which all ties into the word BEAUTY!

When I was first approached about joining, EDF’s founder discussed how she found statistics on women having low self-esteem, and wanted to use the word beauty to inspire and uplift.

So, as we promoted self-esteem, confidence and strength…the purpose of the mission/"What Is Beauty? Campaign" was to fight statistics with our reality.

Beauty relates to self-esteem, confidence and strength because it’s part of their contents…knowing, owning and walking in your self-worth!

I learned through this, the extent of which self-esteem relates to beauty and how confidence creates strength to see beauty in the most difficult times.

Along with Twitter and Facebook, we used Tumblr and Pinterest to reach the community willing to discuss and share their thoughts on beauty!

Here is a snap-shot of The Campaign Tumblr:

The top 2 posts on The Campaign Tumblr were…

This found quote currently has 1,867 notes!

And a quote from yours truly…

"I am worthy, deserving and enough… And NO ONE has the right to tell me anything different."-Lauren Alicia
My quote currently has 376 notes!

But interesting side note… both were posted on the same day, “Count your blessings…” was 1st and “I am worthy, deserving…” was 2nd!!!

…YOU, ME, WE never know when people are listening and what they need to hear! Relating back to the title of this post… “We are a Resource.”

Here is a snap-shot of The Campaign Pinterest Board:

The “What Is Beauty? Campaign” Pinterest Board is a community of Pinners that joined and continuously share their thoughts on beauty, strength and inspiration through quotes, posts and photography!

These 2 platforms expanded my thoughts on beauty and how it is perceived… Sometimes we don’t know how sensitive something is until we no longer just think about it but begin to discuss it…

With that said…

I thought about answering the questions below but realized… they would be best pondered/thought about/marked up/answered…by and for yourself…
Maybe one random GYC Moment of Reminiscing…I’ll post on Facebook my thoughts?!?...Which means if you have yet to like the Fan Page…well… www.facebook.com/gyc.girlyoucrazy
Please and Thank You!!!

Think On/Answer these questions for yourself…
Why does self-esteem relate to beauty?

How does confidence relate to beauty?

Can you relate strength to beauty?

"Be, Love, and Accept… YOURSELF; Then YOU won’t have to question your beauty because you will see it everyday!"

I'm almost done...
An open letter to Beauty (journal/GYC style, which means grammar and punctuation are on an anything-goes format…)…

Dear Beauty,

So often we search for you in places that have nothing to do with our truth. We look for it in acceptance, approval, appearances, and irrelevant surfaces…but one day we will all genuinely proclaim the truth that is you. The recognition that you, Beauty are in my self-esteem, you can see it in my confidence, and reflected in my strength… Sometimes we think that you are so distant from us because the world has created a marred perspective of you but if we ever took the time to look in the mirror through our heart, we would see the truth…which is, your importance was never an outer appearance but a strength that will always live within… I consider YOU a Vision from the Stem!

I’ll leave you with this question as YOU, Me, We encourage others and ourselves daily (also answered by Rachel Franco during her interview):

Do you think sometimes we as women find a temporary confidence in compliments, and what are your thoughts on building a confidence that doesn't rely/need compliments?

Also…feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments!

“We all are the definition of beauty…understand and represent your definition daily!”-Daily Truth Reminder

“Because I know my self-worth, I will celebrate daily ALL of who I am and let go of what I am not…Standing TALL, STRONG And CONFIDENT in every situation.”-My Beauty Declaration

THANK YOU!!!

GYC Week Wrap-Up: Purpose allows you to celebrate & share what you know

“I’m more interested in my purpose than my past or mistakes because as I walk in forgiveness of self…so shall I walk worthy in the promise of my purpose.”-Today speaking to Tomorrow

“Know that YOU have a purpose and allow its promise to keep you focused!”-Someone wanting you to fight off distractions

“Mistakes don’t last, purpose does…so allow the purpose that’s in you to work through you into your reality.”-Truth

If you missed last Thursday’s What Is Beauty? Campaign Google+ Hangout with me, Lauren Alicia…not an issue…scroll till you see the video!!!

But here are my notes…

You may not think that you have a purpose or a purpose greater than the “thing” you are pursuing/doing today…

You may not know that you have the ability to change the world…

Or moments of unworthiness keep you from approaching what you know belongs to you…

…Or maybe none of the above applies to you and you just want to know what GYCGirl is talking about…

It’s cool!!!

But please know that I am able to talk about having a purpose because I’ve felt like all of the above before, and I’m on the other side and fighting to remain on the other side right now…
And let’s get 1 thing clear…

THERE ARE NO IF’S, AND’S OR BUT’S ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE A PURPOSE, IT’S NOT UP FOR QUESTIONING “IF” YOU DO.
What you need to know is…
“What is it?”

What I understand in realizing I have a purpose are 4 things:

1.Forgive yourself of your past, mistakes, feelings of unworthiness…whatever could be holding you back or placing you in moments of self-doubt!

When we continuously forgive ourselves of the past, we no longer accept the fact that we are not good enough because of this or that. Forgiving ourselves allows us to know that our mistakes are not the end of the world and that we can get back up to turn in the right direction.

When I learned to say “I was/am wrong” I allowed for growth in my life as the knowledge and understanding of what it means to walk worthy regardless of your past, showed me, forgiveness is the most amazing repair kit.

2.Accept that you do have a purpose no matter how much you question otherwise!

You could be having the worst day ever where everything is going wrong, no one understands what you’re talking about, and it seems like no one cares…AND YOU WILL STILL HAVE A PURPOSE that needs YOU to LIVE IT OUT!

Accepting that you have a purpose is a matter of using your voice and walking worthy, which is why forgiveness of self is so important…without it you might think that NO one wants to hear what you have to say, ever!

Then, the other side of that is…going in the wrong direction…and thinking that your purpose changed its mind…FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!! You can attempt to do everything possible in the opposite direction and your purpose will still be there waiting and sending a million signs to turn around!

No matter how rough life gets…YOU ALWAYS HAVE A PURPOSE TO FULFILL AND THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR IT…so those behind you can carry the baton next.

We all have a role to play, the world and generations after NEED us to play are part!

3.Understand Rejection| What it is and is not!

If everyone said, “No” would you think your purpose no longer existed???

Understand what rejection is and is not…PLEASE!!!

The simplest way that I can explain it is…

Rejection is not a reflection of YOU but a reflection of what does not belong to YOU.

Allow what is for you to be for you because only we are fit (and able) to handle what belongs to us…so, be confident in who you are and thankful for the no’s and the yes’s.

Be thankful when people say, “NO” because it allows and prepares you for the right people to say, “YES”!

GYC Side Note (Quick) Rant: Please reflect before taking the advice from someone (family, friend or acquaintance) to beat down a closed door…because you just may be attempting to remain traveling in the wrong direction…please don’t live distracted or sign for packages from slewfoot!!!

4.Enjoy the journey of getting to know yourself…live the dream you dream!

Because I’m in the process and continuously surrendering who I am today for who I might be tomorrow…I’ve recognized that although I have BIG DREAMS…my purpose has allowed for smaller dreams in between!

And the special thing about that is…those smaller dreams are just as important and necessary for me to achieve if I want to go after the bigger dreams...fulfilling my purpose.

Remember small can land on greater!
&
It can start as a seed and grow into a tree!

“I Have A Purpose” GYC Mirror Checks:
When you look in the mirror aside from many things to remember…REMEMBER no matter the situation you are still here and purpose is working through you…so, let it work out of you and enter your reality!

+ I am not my mistake(s).
+ I am worthy and deserving.
+ I am designed with a purpose that only I can fulfill.

Because I drink from the endless well…I write what I speak and I speak what I write…allowing that which is in me to not fight but create through the fight to be me!

“Girl that’s deep!” I know that’s what you were thinking…so I said it!

I’m almost done…I’ll end with this short letter to YOU!

Dear _____________ <<<[insert name here]

Thank you for celebrating and embracing the COURAGEOUS YOU even when people called you crazy, didn’t believe in your dreams…you remained (even if you didn’t realize it). Thank you for being YOU, you serve as a reminder that we are designed to only be us.

Thank you for celebrating GYC’s 1-year Anniversary, we will continue to grow together!

From one GYCGirl to another…
I have nothing but LOVE for YOU,
Lauren Alicia

“Purpose will allow you to see…how greatly YOU are designed.”-GYC

Last Quick GYC Note:
To know you have a purpose is to know that you have power, and when you pursue that purpose…you will be known as a powerful, no limits woman walking worthy in her purpose!!! >>>“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any.”-Alice Walker

Freedom

If you were brought in for questioning

and many things were before you

would you be able to identify

and recognize

freedom

or look yourself in the mirror

to see it

living in you?

Living and breathing out
all of you
before you were consumed
by a non-existing
box
as a looking glass to gaze through,
use as a format,
example,
blueprint
of the stamp and label
placed upon
many
too few to count
who have yet to identify
freedom
therefore given and believing
something false
to know
and trust
as their truth

So
when we say
FREEDOM
oh so often we use it
as a tool to stand
and declare
but some of us
don’t even know
its name,
the characteristics,
its personality,
the uniqueness of its fame

I’d rather tell you
You are free
than ignore the truth
of you being bound
by reality
not yours
but the one
re-created
told to you
and delivered as the accurate genuine inner makings of you

yet to be realized
because it is disguised
as your ________<<< “truth…”
when you look in the mirror
let’s all finish the line
______________ <<< “Do you really know you????”

Not a personal attack
but for me to even write,
Right this
I have to look within
day in
day out
and humbly admit…
do I really know freedom,
and do I live like it knows my name

Bigger than any word
you could ever pronounce
A gift we’re all given
but many of us refuse to live it
Afraid we will miss out
On this movement
that movement
Top Twitter trend
and the number of everybody talking about this

It’s cool,
I’ll give you a minute
it is a constant self-reality check
If an interviewer asked
“Is it a fight to be you,
the real you?“
Would you really say,
“YES”

Given the moment
to be introduced to
Freedom,
the stress and pressure
that you were actually built
to push through and progress
No faking the funk,
taking time to open up
and no longer masking
The privilege,
the true
and accurate
genuine
inner makings
of the
FREEDOM
to be
YOU
go wherever that may lead
Fight to consider
only your designed beautiful truth
Leaving behind
all the re-this and re-that
…that just really isn’t
REAL

But a prison with an indefinite sentence.

Take

Make

Time

To reflect
Realize
Recognize
That
FREEDOM
Knows You
And requests that
You know It!

If you were brought in for questioning

and many things were before you

would you be able to identify

and recognize

freedom

or look yourself in the mirror

to see it

living in you?
