I was nominated... My first Liebster Award Nomination!!!

Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU to the oh so resourceful, you’ve got beauty questions…she has answers… RENEE OF Beauty School ScArlet!!!!!!! I hopped on Google+ the other day and there was my Liebster Award nomination from Renee (CONGRATUALTIONS TO YOU), extremely honored to be in the mix with 10 other inspiring and full of HELPFUL tips bloggers.

A Liebster Award is an award given via the Internet from another blogger to recognize and/or discover new bloggers. It also allows readers to get to know the blogger from a different point of view by the blogger answering 11 informal random questions presented by the blogger who nominated the nominee. In return, the nominee pays it forward by nominating 11 bloggers for the award.

Get to know me a little more through my answers to Renee’s questions:

1.   Who, what or where does your blogging inspiration come from? My journey and life lessons, if its on my blog…I’ve lived it, learned it or continuing to learn it…I don’t want there to be take-backs to what I tell about my journey, I want to be an open book… So I focus on the story I tell being the life I live or am working to see it in my reality!

2.   What is the best advice you have ever received? When I was preparing for my first ever business meeting, someone told me to know who I am and stick to it.

3.   What motivates you? Life, all its mysteries and wonders, and wanting to have something that I created to leave behind or pass on like a baton.

4.   What is your favorite TV Show or movie? I’m so flaky when it comes to TV shows, I’m currently going through old shows like Freaks & Greeks, Wonderfalls, Boston Public, Harry’s Law and deciding why they didn’t have long life like The Office… so I’ll discuss my favorite movie. Coming to America because for whatever reason…I have watched this movie the most in my life and always like it is the first time I ever saw it, it just never gets old to me. So I’ll give credit where credit is due!

5.    What book would you recommend others to read? Their journal/diary…

6.   What is your dream job? Shoe designer!!!!!!!!!! It’s my biggest dream but I’ve noticed along the way that before I get there…there are smaller dreams that need to be completed first! But I sketch at least once a month…watching this video below just reminded me how beautiful my dream still is to me.

7.   What is your favorite food? Sweet Potato Yams by my mom because I’m picky about what I eat…I make all the “Girl YOU Crazy” faces if I don’t like it. So to be specific and cut out any other questions about anybody else’s food…I don’t like everybody’s’ yams just my mothers, it goes well with her Mac and Cheese… yes, please!

8.   What is guilty pleasure? Ooooo I’m embarrassed but I watch Love and Hip Hop ATL… I apologize phahahahahahaaaaa but there is this one vlogger who has the BEST commentary on the show…it just makes me giggle non-stop!!!!!

Then… Nutella…if there was a meeting…I would go!!!

9.   What is the story behind your blog name? Perspective decides how we see things. And negative words and phrases have the possibility to cloud our perspective. It was a moment of recognizing that “Girl YOU Crazy” can easily enter our thoughts because it’s said with a little laughter but the thing is…it can sometimes linger negatively… So…I flipped the meaning of something playful that can discourage, keeping it playful but using the phrase as fuel to accomplish/complete/finish and live your dream with great expectation & a smile.

10. What is your favorite drink of choice? Water… that sounds so boring but I had to stop drinking the sweets although Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha and me like to get together like old friends every now and then!

11.   If money were no object, where would be the first place you would travel to? Turks and Caicos, my bags could be packed in minutes!!! … I like to travel to warm weather and be around different accents…and get more use out of my passport so…

Well… now you know a little more about me!!!

Now in paying it forward…I looked up many different rules for choosing your list of 11…so I did a combination… if you would like to pass your nomination to someone else, please let me know, and I will update my list! Thanks…and here is my list of 11:

I enjoy your journeys for different reasons!!

And here are the questions I would like for you to answer (yes…I know…they are random…):

1.   When people first heard you entered the blogging game…what did they say?
2.   Tell me a movie you watched that no one would believe you learned something valuable from?
3.   What’s your favorite quote?
4.   What makes you LOL, Phahahs, Haaaaa or Hehe?
5.    Fill-in-the-blank… If you could spread ______________ on everything…life would be _______________.
6.   What’s your dream vacation… and who would you invite (even if you don’t know them…)?
7.   What advice would you give to someone considering giving up on their dream/passion?
8.   What’s your favorite magazine (online or print) or book? And would you ever turn your blog into one??
9.   Who or what inspires you the most?
10.  If your favorite color was a love song…what would be the title?
11.  20 years from now…What is one thing you want the older you to know/remember?

Have fun and thanks so much Beauty School ScArlet!!!

When a Stranger Lingers: The Introduction | Let’s quote "The Godfather…"

Let’s quote The Godfather…

Or Sun-Tzu…whatever!!!!!!!

“Keep your friends close but your enemies closer”

Then place this quote in the T-R-A-S-H!!!

Please Note… if you use that phrase and give it out as advice…you ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS POST but YOU just may need this series!!!!

Because Girl YOU Crazy to allow strangers to linger like friends who are eager about your forward progress with nothing to gain…
My enemies (and yours neither) do NOT need to be kept close, closer, or kept anywhere near me at all…NO DAY!!!!!

“Yea I said it!”

Whelp…seems like I dived right into that…so let me back up slowly…but surely speed up to approach this series, as my excitement WILL rise as I discuss this topic!

Okay? Okay.

Welcome to the "When a Stranger Lingers" Series
(I have yet to think of a graphic for the series...this life is a process...we shall see what I come up with!)

I feel like this series/post has been a long time coming since the “Girl YOU Crazy” face is usually given and influential by those who have some kind of influence in our lives…and knowing if that influence is helpful or handicapping to our progress!

In thinking about this…

The overly used phrase…and made oh so popular by The Godfather, “Keep your friends close but your enemies closer” came to mind.

And what better way to open up a series on the people you keep around you... than with that silliness!? I mean really???
Girl…

So let’s get into it!

How often do we maintain “friendships” or “acquaintances” with people WE have allowed to hold us back, and/or mar/diminish/destroy our self-worth because he/she’s opinion has more weight in our life than the truth?

Take a moment…

Maintaining friendly contact with an enemy because we think we will get ahead or gain something by association…

Or maybe YOU call it "not burning your bridges"…

GYC Side Note/Quick Rant… This is not about business but about people you allow to be part of your personal life…YES, I do know that YOU have enemies you may have to work with or need to help you complete a professional task. This is different; there are boundaries!!! And just in case you’re wondering how I know this at 23… I’ve had my eyes open for a long time and since I was a kid, I had others attempt to compete with me and call me friend…Even then…I knew you don’t compete with friends…and as I matured, I realized you don’t compete with ANYONE (What is for me is for me!)…Because it has no end…it’s pointless!!!

If we knowingly keep people around us that do not wish us well, won’t tell us the truth, help us grow, or cheer us on…how can we habitually live successful, walk in our definition and be courageous?

When we know who we are…we need to remember there ARE people equipped to handle who we are even through struggle…and be our support without hidden intentions or sabotaging motives.

Join us to see what journey the entire series has in store as GYC approaches its 1-year anniversary June 25th!!!

As we uncover the GYC-ness of friendships or the people we keep around us…Remember:

Dear Life…Signed Girl YOU Crazy!

Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and where you’re going, the next step you should take and if you took no steps at all what would really happen?

Writing Life a letter this week is all about self-reflection, moving forward, walking in your purpose and…defeating crazy with courageous…no matter the obstacles in front of you!

When was the last time you wrote Life a letter…and just let it all out?

I personally have never really written one, well I have in this book I’m writing (another part of my process)…but it goes in a completely different direction…yea, that’s another story for another time…but I have never written one that was just to Life in general like this one.

Pre-GYC-Disclaimer: We have all written or spoken a letter to Life and the way we write or speak it depends on our relationship with it…therefore, as some may know I am ALL, all over the place and this letter will more than likely read this way but I mean…this wouldn’t be Girl YOU Crazy if I didn’t right? Right.

Let’s get into it…

Dear Life,

It’s funny how we live you everyday, yet we question the reality we see…I guess you know where this is going!!!

But when I’m left with my thoughts, I just wonder…
Why are you not as pure and simple as this paper?

Maybe that’s too deep… let me start again…
You must get these letters a lot…?  I guess I could say, “I hope this letter finds you well” but I guess this letter is not about you but me writing you, and telling you what is on my mind…

HMPH…

I’ve come to a point where it seems as though you are seriously pressuring me and everywhere I turn is a LESSON… (I’m not yelling, I just want you to know that I recognize/acknowledge/know these are LESSONS).

Learning one thing after another…encountering this crazy, that crazy and they have the nerve to think I’m crazy but Life when will they learn, my crazy is in perspective, profitable and we call it courage…Can I get a witness???

But honestly, the reason I am writing you…since you already know all of this stuff is…

The different experiences of the past and present seem to keep placing me at sink, sail or swim back to shore moments, which ultimately remind me… “don’t let go…”

There comes a time or many, and I believe this is mine, since we have been creating aha moments and all that but it’s time to look at the process (my process) and recognize where I’m going and did I volunteer to go or did I just end up here…and is there a reason to stop, start over or keep going?

Whatever the answer is…Am I actually in Operation Forward Motion?...because none of this matters if I am not moving forward and just making noise where no one is listening…been there, done that, saw it and continue to see it…and I don’t like it for myself or anyone else!

So as I write this letter, I will explore these questions...
Personal Open Reflection for us to explore in a conversation with our beautiful Life:
+Where did I start?

+Why did I start?

+How did I start?

+Do any of my where, why, and how’s relate to each other???

+Where am I now?

+Do I want to be here?
++If not here, Why? How will I get somewhere else?

+This is where I want to end…
__________________________________

+But where will my actions/decisions allow me to actually end?

The other day, I made a sticky note about all of my experiences to see how and why I could move forward…and you know what I realized Life???

That this life me you live together was (past tense) missing some understanding in my actual experiences…and I have way more experience than I knew I had…and at age 23, so I’m wondering, how many of us have really taken the time to know what we have experienced???

Do we give ourselves proper credit? (Please refer to Don’t Take the Elevator…)

Do we know and appreciate the journey we are on?

“The person I am is the person I have become, the process can attest to the journey that has only begun.”-My truth

I know we sat down before and had a conversation about stop being nosey but all of these lessons I’m learning, those questions above really place things in right now perspective…and the two of us have greater things to do…I know it!!! So, I refuse to let/allow/approve any of things or people that will keep me from receiving my directions and instructions, which is a serious fight and strengthens my knowledge to know that the best IS yet to come…

But can I just vent…because that’s what I do??? Cool? Cool.

I’m almost done…but what I don’t say here, I say in my thoughts and actions---
GYC Girl Girl GIRL YOU CRAZY Rant…I have to! And yes this is like 1 sentence)!
When I think about my life and the lives of others that face criticism by those thinking they’re doing a favor for something bigger than them or even a favor to you without genuinely asking YOU, about YOU before talking negatively/criticizing/bashing YOU…I remember that in actuality it’s just a response of their own self-reflection or lack thereof…but I won’t retaliate/argue/give any more air than this quote (I wrote) below because I know that you, beautiful Life, have great instructions and directions for me to live and be all of me, so when people see US (YOU, ME, WE) may our confidence, strength and boldness shine, maintain it’s character and say…

“If you don’t understand the vision (the vision for my life)…don’t criticize the image (me)!”

Life, thank you for showing me how to be in Operation Forward Motion, and reminding me that I am going somewhere that I am supposed to be voluntarily…I love you…but you already know that!

Sincerely ME,

GYCGirlYOU…know the rest!
